Mindfulness for Teachers
My name is Gayle Creasey and I am an experienced trainer in mindfulness for teachers. I have completed training with Bangor University and the Mindfulness in Schools Project.
I work in schools in Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Hertfordshire.
Why offer mindfulness for teachers?
Working as a teacher and more generally in schools can be stressful.
NUT research recently stated that over 80% of teachers experience stress, anxiety or depression at work and over 50% feel extremely stressed.
It is not possible to create a stress free school. It is possible to provide teachers with mindfulness training to improve their resilience under pressure.
The benefits of mindfulness for teachers:
The Mindfulness in Schools Project has created the 8 session .b Foundations mindfulness course specifically to improve the well-being of teachers.
Research shows that teachers who learn mindfulness report an increase in:
- sustained attention
- emotional regulation
- teaching efficacy
Book a mindfulness for teachers taster session:
These sessions are 60-90 minutes and can be held after school or on an inset day.
The taster session gives teachers an understanding of mindfulness. Perhaps more importantly, it offers the opportunity to try some mindfulness exercises.
Book a mindfulness course for teachers:
The course consists of 8 x 90 minute sessions held after school.
Participants receive handouts and guided audio recordings after each session. These resources enable the individual to integrate their new mindfulness skills into everyday life.
During the course you will learn how to:
- increase awareness of the contents of your mind
- pause and create a breathing space to centre yourself
- respond to your thoughts and feelings skilfully
- use mindfulness to gain a new perspective in stressful situations
