This 4 session group is for experienced mindfulness practitioners who have completed an 8 week course or have an established practice.
It will be a small group of 8-12 people and the aim is to provide a space to practice and learn how to integrate mindfulness more fully into your daily life, especially in those moments when things are tough.
The core practice of the group will be the RAIN meditation created by Michele McDonald and adapted by Tara Brach. RAIN gives us a simple, practical way to be mindfully present with whatever is arising for us, including including those ordinary moments when we get triggered by irritation, disappointment, fear, shame, repetitive thoughts or pain in the body.
“RAIN directs our attention in a systematic way that cuts through confusion and stress. Like the clear air after a cooling rain, this mindfulness practice brings a new openness and calm to our daily lives” – Tara Brach
The practice has four steps:
Recognising what is going on
Allowing the experience to be there, just as it is
Investigating with interest and care
Nourishing with Self Compassion
“As you practice RAIN, you may experience a subtle sense of warmth and openness, a widening in perspective, a quietening of mental stories and a softening of your heart. RAIN is a practice for life – it allows us to de-condition old habits and limiting self-beliefs, transforming doubts and fears with a healing presence” – Tara Brach
Each session will include practice, learning and discussion on the following themes:
- Introduction to RAIN
- RAIN and working with Emotions
- RAIN and working with Thoughts
- Investigating & Living Beyond our Core Beliefs
